Homeopathic Pharmacy

We have come a long way from blood-letting and forcibly swinging patients until they vomit as forms of medical treatment. Modern medicine has improved our longevity and quality of life…or has it? Traditional medical treatment is certainly what you seek when you have a broken leg or a life-threatening injury or condition. It has advanced our knowledge of the body from gross anatomical disorders to cellular and genetic dysfunction. It is a useful means of investigation.

There is growing evidence however, that pharmaceutical medicines may in fact do more harm than good. Patients often find themselves on an ever-increasing number of medications, prescribed to combat the side effects of each other. The problem is that we have always presumed there to be not limits to traditional medical treatment, when in fact there are.

Homeopathic medications are derived from natural substances. Pharmaceutical manufacturers would argue that many of their medications are also derived from natural substances. Where homeopathic medicines and pharmaceutical medicines differ is in their manufacture and composition. In the manufacture of pharmaceutical medications, constituents are isolated in such a way that they act in a very specific way on the cellular receptors in our bodies. This may create a ripple effect in which the side effects create further problems that require treatment with different medications.

Homeopathic medications act in a very different way. The many constituents that make a natural medicine effective are not isolated from each other. Rather, nature is respected in that the medicines are recognized to work in a very synergistic way, acting as a whole, not as isolated components. We are complicated, individual, multi-faceted beings and treatment should reflect this complexity. Homeopathic treatment does.

In my practice I use only the best quality Homeopathic medicines. These medications are produced to the highest standards available in the manufacture of natural medicines. There has been some criticism as of late regarding Homeopathic Doctors dispensing the homeopathic medicines they themselves prescribe. While the concern is a valid one and deserves consideration, it is important to keep in mind the following:

  • As a Homeopathic Doctor, my knowledge of homeopathic and other natural medicines comes from my extensive training and ongoing continuing education, not from pharmaceutical reps, as in traditional medicine
  • There are very few independent homeopathic pharmacies, most of which exist in larger communities, some operating in local health food stores. A homeopathic doctor incurs much expense stocking medicines and should an independent pharmacy open in my community, for instance, I would be happy to forego the expense of stocking medicines and have my patients obtain them from a reputable pharmacy.
  • The cost of a homeopathic prescription is minute ($5 to $10 per prescription) compared to that of traditional pharmaceutical medicines.
  • I am ethically responsible to my patients for ensuring they receive quality homeopathic care and until such time that homeopathic medicines are more readily accessible, they fall under this care. I research my source pharmacies extremely carefully. It would not be in my interest nor that of my patients to administer medicines of questionable quality, only to yield negative results.
  • I am in no way affiliated with any pharmacy, nor do I receive any compensation from them.

Please remember that, as a patient, if you wish to purchase your own medicines on-line or through other means, please let me know. It is your right to do so and your wish in this regard will always be respected.
